in general): Remember to enjoy all the simple things
and blessings you have. It’s easy to get caught up in everything
you’re involved in at Berkeley.
PASS
Tell us about your position & why it’s important:
My position is Youth Mentorship. I feel that the work
that I do is important because it bridges us Berkeley folks with
students outside our community who do not have the privileges
that we do. Also, it allows us to exchange the knowledge and talents
that we have with the students at the Filipino Education Center,
who in return teach us just as much about ourselves, our culture,
and our history.
What are some of your goals for this year?: I
hope to develop some great mentors that will serve as a resource
to the FEC students. I also hope to be actively involved in all
of the components of PASS.
First exposure to pass: PASO, where Aura and Chris Malixi greeted
me and made me feel welcome, something that I had not felt all
welcome week : )
Why & how did you decide to get involved?: I
saw that PASS had amazing passionate people who cared about some
of the stuff I did, including working with youth and students.
Why is PASS’ work important?: PASS does
work that affects ourselves, our families, and our communities.
It allows us to work actively in bringing and keeping Pilipinos
into higher education, and it allows us to see the privileges
we have as students in higher education, and how we can use these
privileges to serve those who may need our resources.
Where do you see PASSin 10 years?: I see pass
continuing its work to serve Pilipino students so that they may
reach and thrive in higher education.
Anything else we should know? Shout-outs?: Shout
out to my family, Mom, Dad, Jess
